Amanda L. Vogel was a Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) Fellow, from 2009-2010, with the Science of Team Science (SciTS) team in the Office of the Associate Director (OAD), Behavioral Research Program (BRP-OAD), Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). She then joined SAIC as a Behavioral Scientist and continues to provide support to the SciTS team and other projects in the BRP.

Dr. Vogel's research interests are in three areas: 1) program evaluation, particularly as related to the outcomes of large federal grant programs; 2) the science of team science, including interdisciplinary collaborations and community-academic partnerships; and 3) community engaged scholarship, including community-based participatory research and community-engaged training of health professions students. Dr. Vogel has expertise in the use of qualitative methods, including case study, interviews, document review, and expert panel methods.

At the NCI, Dr. Vogel is engaged in research to investigate the processes and outcomes of transdisciplinary center grant programs, including the CPHHD and TREC initiatives. She also provides leadership for the Team Science Toolkit, an online wiki-based resource to support the practice and study of team science, which will be publicly available in April 2011. Dr. Vogel also is providing leadership for a study to assess physician attitudes and practices related to referral of patients for cancer clinical trials.

Dr. Vogel holds a Doctoral degree in Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a Master's degree in Health and Social Behavior from the Harvard School of Public Health.
