Julie was particularly interested in studying how people get information about tobacco on the internet, what types of messages they are exposed to, and how it could affect people's tobacco attitudes and tobacco use.

Julie has a background in health education and communication and worked at two health advocacy nonprofits in Washington, D.C., while completing her master's degree in 2010. Her primary work involved assessing new research on various health topics and translating that complex information into health education materials for various audiences. Prior to graduate school, Julie worked as a health educator in East Boston, focusing on childhood obesity and HIV prevention. Julie transitioned from her fellowship into a contractor position at BLH Technology.
