Linda was a Cancer Prevention Fellow in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) where she collaborated on analytic investigations relating dietary, genetic and lifestyle factors to the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases. Linda was later awarded a Technology Transfer Fellowship at NCI. In that position, she collaborated with NCI and DCPC on the "5 A Day" Program. She helped to develop strategies for effectively disseminating the "5 A Day" Program messages and worked to transfer scientific knowledge of the protective effect of fruits and vegetables,the key phytochemicals in which they contain, and behavioral change theory into community-based interventions. Linda is now the chief of the Health Behaviors Research Branch (HBRB), in the Behavioral Research Program (BRP), in the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) at NCI. Dr. Nebeling is the lead Program Director for the Transdisciplinary Research in Energetics and Cancer (TREC) Centers initiative. She has served as the Acting Associate Director of the BRP, DCCPS.

Dr. Nebeling received her Doctorate in Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University. She has a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health and is a graduate of the Dietetic Internship Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Her research has focused on the relationship between dietary behaviors in different population groups, especially for fruit and vegetable consumption, and the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, co-edited a textbook, and is a reviewer for many professional journals.

Dr. Nebeling is a member of the National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance, as part of the PBH-CDC "Fruits and Veggie - More Matters" Program. She has served as a member of the Research Advisory Board of the Produce for Better Health Foundation; on the executive board of the Oncology Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group in the American Dietetic Association; and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. She has received 3 NIH Merit Awards for exemplary contributions in the field of nutrition and health promotion. In 2001, she was awarded the status of Fellow by the American Dietetic Association (FADA).
