Lisa Zubkoff, Ph.D.

Dartmouth College

Early in my career, I learned about the gap between what we know in healthcare and what we do. Understanding this gap is what led to my interest in the field of implementation science.

Dr. Lisa Zubkoff is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and The Dartmouth Institute at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and an Implementation Scientist at the White River Junction VA Medical Center. She has served as PI and Co-Investigator on several studies, including those funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs, American Cancer Society, and NIH. Dr. Zubkoff's research passions are to develop and explore the use of implementation strategies to improve the uptake of evidence-based practices. She is Principal Investigator of an NCI-funded study designed to compare two implementation strategies - a Virtual Learning Collaborative and technical assistance - for NCI Oncology Research Program (NCORP) community oncology practices that are implementing the Educate, Nurture, Advise, Before Life Ends (ENABLE) early concurrent palliative care program (NCI 1R01CA229197-01). This study is significant as it 1) allows practices to offer early concurrent palliative care services for advanced cancer patients, and 2) compares two implementation strategies. Lessons learned from this work can be applied to additional community oncology practices, as well as inform future implementation efforts.
