Jesse R. Fann, M.D., M.P.H.

University of Washington

After many years of caring for people with cancer, I continue to be motivated by both their resilience and the enormous psychosocial challenges they must overcome. My goal is to combine clinical and technological innovation to positively impact the health care and quality of life of the many people suffering from cancer and mental illness.

Dr. Fann is a psychiatrist and clinical researcher who is passionate about developing better approaches to identifying mental health conditions and delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care to more people. This research project aims to contribute to the health of people with cancer by improving the treatment of depression in this population. The study will develop technology to optimize the delivery of Collaborative Care, an effective system of care for depression. Dr. Fann is excited about the opportunity to combine his interests in clinical care and technological innovation toward the goal of more effectively treating depression in people with cancer, ultimately reducing the disabling effects of cancer and its treatment and improving overall quality of life.
