How has your BRP fellowship influenced your career?
My fellowship helped me land a fantastic communications position back in my hometown. I'm currently working as a communications manager for an education service district in Hillsboro, Oregon. The communications work I did and the mentoring I received at the National Cancer Institute helped prepare me for this position.

Describe a favorite memory or two from your fellowship experience.
I loved working with Mimi Lising and Mary O'Connell on our website redesign. I also really enjoyed our internal communications campaigns. These included Peeps for tweets, Fruit Roll-Ups for the new travel app, and Springing forward on our new website. I also really enjoyed working with our Featured Grantees. I heard Lisa Feldman Barrett, one of our grantees, on the radio the other day. It was fun to remember the opportunity I had to work with her.

Describe your current position, your current organization, and what you do.
I am the Communications Manager for Northwest Regional Education Service District in Hillsboro, Oregon. Our agency serves 20 school districts in four counties in the northwest corner of Oregon. I am responsible for communicating with staff, students, families, teachers, policymakers, the media, and other community members.

Current and/or past BRP mentors include Mary O'Connell and Mimi Lising.
