Cancer Research Training Award Fellow
Jamie Cordova, M.P.H., was a Cancer Research Training Award Fellow in the Health Communications Internship Program. Her fellowship was in the Tobacco Control Research Branch of the Behavioral Research Program. Her work supported evidence synthesis and reporting on tobacco control activities.
Ms. Cordova earned a bachelor's degree in international relations with a focus in global health from Tufts University. She received a master's degree in public health with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics from Tufts University School of Medicine.
During her undergraduate career, Ms. Cordova worked as a research assistant on a case study that examined levels of uranium and arsenic in unregulated well water. She completed her master's capstone at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, where she conducted regression analysis on Massachusetts PRAMS (Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System) data. Prior to joining the National Cancer Institute, Ms. Cordova worked on the Boston Puerto Rican Health Study to improve exposure assessment of particulate air pollutants.
Ms. Cordova's research interests include low-dose chemical exposure and cancer incidence, racial disparities in cancer mortality, and nutritional epidemiology of cancer.
